Who is the UTK Leadership Certificate for?
The UTK Leadership Certificate is for students who are currently enrolled in the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential (PASC) or Clear Administrative Services Credential (CASC) programs. Candidates who hold a Certificate of Eligibility are also eligible.
I recently completed my CASC and hold my CLEAR credential. Do I qualify?
Due to the nature of the grant funding, you wouldn't qualify for the UTK Leadership Certificate courses. However, you may be eligible to participate in the 21CSLA UTK Localized Professional Learning opportunities based on your county of employment. Visit Regional Academies for more information.
How many courses do I need to complete for the certificate?
Candidates must complete the following two courses:
- Leaders Designing Equitable Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Classrooms in Action
- Equity Centered Leadership Practices to Support, Integrate, and Align Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
Do I need to take the courses at the same time?
No, you can take the courses in separate semesters—they do not need to be taken at the same time. However, you do need to take both courses overall to earn the certificate.
Do I have to take the courses in a certain order?
No, you can the courses in any order.
Are the courses asynchronous or synchronous?
The courses are synchronous and are offered live via Zoom.
Are both courses required to earn the UTK Leadership Certificate?
Yes, you must complete and pass both courses in order to earn the UTK Leadership Certificate. You are welcome to take just one course but would not be eligible to receive the certificate.
When are the courses offered?
The courses are offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Program Structure
How much does the UTK Leadership Certificate cost?
The courses are 100% free due to grant funding.
How much time is involved in each course?
Each course is 30 hours of synchronous instruction. Typically, this is 3 hours for 10 weeks. We also have offer a summer intensive model that is two weeks in length that offers a 3 hour session each weekday.
Is the program in person, online or hybrid?
The program is 100% online and is synchronous. Classes are held synchronously via Zoom.

How do I apply for the courses?
Fill out the link on our homepage to the pre-enrollment application survey and we will follow up with you via email.
What documents do I need to submit for verification?
You must submit documentation that you are currently enrolled in a Preliminary ASC or Clear ASC program. This could be a letter from your current program director verifying your enrollment. If you hold a Certificate of Eligibility, please just upload that document.
